OtoKeyboard Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 23, 2025

Please read these Terms of Use and Privacy Policy (“Agreement”) carefully before using the OtoKeyboard software (“Software”). The Software is provided by KarexiDEV (“Developer”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By accessing or using the Software, you agree to all the terms and data processing practices set forth in this Agreement. If you do not agree with any part of this Agreement, you are not permitted to use the Software.

Section 1: Terms of Use

1.1. Definition of the Service OtoKeyboard is a desktop application that allows users to automate repetitive typing tasks by creating text-based shortcuts. The Software is offered in two different modes: the “Free Version” and the “Licensed Version”.

1.2. License

  • Free Version License: The Developer grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license to use the Free Version of the Software. This version may include certain limitations, such as restricting the number of shortcuts you can create (e.g., to 3 shortcuts).
  • Licensed Version: By purchasing a license key, you gain access to the Licensed Version, which removes the restrictions of the Free Version.

1.3. User Responsibilities

  • You agree not to use the Software for any illegal, harassing, or malicious activities.
  • You are solely responsible for the security of your license key.
  • User-Generated Content: You are solely responsible for all content (shortcut texts, commands, etc.) that you create and use with the Software.
  • “Run Command” and “System Action” Features: The Software provides you with the ability to open files, run applications (like notepad, cmd), or perform system actions (such as “Shut Down Computer”, “Empty Recycle Bin”). You bear all responsibility when using these features. The Developer cannot be held liable for any damages that may occur as a result of the incorrect or malicious use of these functions, including but not limited to data loss, system instability, or other unintended consequences.
  • Security: It is your responsibility to ensure that the commands, URLs, or files you run through the Software are safe.

1.4. Intellectual Property The Software, including its interface, features, and original content, is the property of KarexiDEV and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

1.4a. Prohibited Uses You agree not to, and you will not permit others to: (a) license, sublicense, sell, resell, transfer, assign, distribute or otherwise commercially exploit or make available to any third party the Software in any way; (b) modify or make derivative works based upon the Software; (c) reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code or underlying ideas or algorithms of the Software, except as may be specifically permitted by applicable law notwithstanding this limitation; (d) attempt to gain unauthorized access to, interfere with, damage, or disrupt any parts of the Software, the server on which the Software’s licensing service is stored, or any server, computer, or database connected to the licensing service; (e) use the Software in any manner that could disable, overburden, damage, or impair the Software or interfere with any other party’s use of the Software.

1.5. Updates The Software may periodically check for updates that include new features, improvements, or bug fixes. When an update is available, the Software may notify you and request administrator permissions to initiate the update process.

1.6. Termination The Developer reserves the right to terminate your license to use the Software without notice if you violate this Agreement. You may terminate your use at any time by uninstalling the Software from your computer.

1.7. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability The Software is provided “as is” without any warranty of any kind. The Developer makes no express or implied warranty that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that it will meet your specific needs. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Developer shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including but not limited to, loss of profits, data loss, business interruption, or other commercial or personal damages arising from the use of the Software, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Section 2: Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. This section explains what information we collect when you use the Software, why we collect it, and how we protect that information.

2.1. Information We Collect and Why

  • a) License Verification and Machine ID: When you activate the Licensed Version, we collect the following information to ensure our licensing system functions correctly:
    • Hashed License Key: The license key you enter is irreversibly hashed using the SHA-256 algorithm before being sent to our servers. We never store your original key on our servers.
    • Secure Machine ID: To ensure your license is assigned to the correct device and to prevent misuse, we create a unique, anonymized identifier derived from some of your computer’s hardware components (such as motherboard serial number, MAC address, and processor information), which is also hashed with SHA-256. This ID cannot be used to personally identify you and is used solely for license verification purposes.
  • b) Acceptance of Terms of Use: When you first activate a licensed key, information confirming your acceptance of this agreement is sent to our servers.
  • c) Update Check: The Software periodically communicates with our servers to check if a new version is available. During this process, anonymous data, such as the current version number of the application, may be shared. This allows us to provide you with the most up-to-date and secure software.
  • d) Locally Stored Data: All shortcuts, profiles, and settings you create are stored locally on your computer. This data is never sent to our servers or shared with us. You have full control over your data.

2.2. Third-Party Services License key sales are conducted through a third-party e-commerce platform. Payment processing is handled entirely by this platform. We do not see or store your credit card or other financial information.

2.3. Data Sharing, Security, and Retention We will never sell, rent, or share the limited and anonymized information we collect with third parties unless required by law. We protect all sensitive data sent to our servers using strong hashing algorithms. The hashed license verification data (Secure Machine ID, hashed license key association, and terms acceptance status) stored on our servers is retained only as long as your license is active or as necessary to provide the service. Upon the expiration or termination of your license, this associated server-side data will be deleted in accordance with our data retention practices.

Section 3: General Provisions

3.1. Changes We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace this Agreement at any time. Changes become effective immediately after they are posted on our website.

3.2. Contact Us If you have any questions about this Agreement, please contact us at support@otokeyboard.com

3.3. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution This Agreement shall be interpreted and governed without regard to its conflict of law provisions. The parties agree that for the resolution of any dispute arising from the interpretation or application of this Agreement, they will refer to the decisions of an arbitration board, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction and be mutually determined by the parties.
