OtoKeyboard Guide: Record and Replay Your Mouse and Keyboard Actions (Macro Recorder)
The Macro Recorder records everything you do with your keyboard and mouse, like a film strip, and allows you to replay this recording whenever you want, as many times as you want. This is the ultimate solution for complex and repetitive tasks where other automation methods fall short.
When to Use the Macro Recorder?
- Graphic Design: Repetitive Photoshop or Illustrator tasks, such as applying the same filter to a series of photos or selecting specific layers to add effects.
- Gaming: Complex ability sequences (skill combos), resource gathering routes, or navigating in-game menus.
- Software Testing: Test scenarios such as clicking specific buttons in order, filling out forms, and checking the results.
- Data Entry: Navigating between fields with the mouse and entering data in legacy programs or web forms that lack shortcut support.
How to Use the Macro Recorder
- Open the Recorder: On the main screen, click the “⚡ Extra Features” button and select “Macro Recorder”.
- The Recording Process:
- Record (CTRL+1): Press this button (or the
CTRL+1shortcut) to start recording. From that moment on, every mouse movement, click, and keystroke you make will be recorded. The status label will change to “Status: Recording…”. - Stop: When you have completed your task, press the “Stop” button. The recording process will end, and all recorded actions will be listed in the steps table on the right.

- Play (CTRL+2): To start replaying the actions you recorded, press this button (or the
CTRL+2shortcut). Now you can sit back and watch your mouse move and type on its own! - Stop: During playback, you can press the “Stop” button at any time to end the process.

Manage and Edit Your Macros
The Macro Recorder is not just a simple recording tool; it gives you full control.
- Saving a Macro: To use your recording again later, click the “Save Macro” button. You can give your macro a name and save it. (Note: You can save a maximum of 2 macros in the free version) .
- Loading Saved Macros: You can instantly load the action steps of a previously saved macro by clicking on it in the “Saved Macros” list on the left.
- Reviewing and Editing Steps:
- In the table on the right, you can see every recorded action (mouse move, click, key press) and the delay between them in milliseconds.
- You can change the delay of a step or the key value in a key press action by double-clicking the corresponding cell. This allows you to fine-tune the timing of your macro.
- Deleting Steps: You can clean up your recording by selecting one or more steps you want to remove from the table and pressing the “Delete Selected Step” button.
The Macro Recorder is the most flexible automation tool OtoKeyboard offers. Any task that you can’t automate with other methods can be recorded once and replayed infinitely.
